It all begins with Joy
Jess has been working in the field of photography for over ten years. She has extensive experience in field production ranging from tallships to research vessels, islands to classrooms. She is also skilled at studio and live production. Many of her projects involve short form documentary style content.
Jess specializes in capturing the joy and passion of a project. She works in a style she likes to call ‘guerilla filmmakeing’, with many of her projects being high energy and fast paced, having little time to pose for the camera or set up a formal shoot. She relies on quick instincts and candid photography and videography to convey a clients story. Being used to working in small teams, it’s been common for Jess to take on multiple roles for a single project. Need a producer? Editor? Camera woman? Host? Script writer? Set designer? She’s your girl.
Coming from an adventurous family, it was only natural that Jess got her SCUBA certification at age 16. In college she also became AAUS certified. She has used this skill all over the world from cold, murky, New England waters to the crystal blue seas of Micronesia.
“I have always been a person who values adventure. When it comes to deciding if something is worth doing I first ask myself, ‘would this be worthy of the title Adventure?’ ‘Would Bilbo Baggins skip from his home screaming to his neighbors on his way?’ Most often the answer is yes. I love any opportunity to connect with nature, feel the sun on my face, and the wind in my hair.”
